12 Sales Contest Ideas For Your Sales Team

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Incentives work. I have been trying monthly sales contests ideas lately and they are working - even if only to light some fires and charge up the team a little. Try some version of them with your sales team if you don't already. Notice some of these sales contest ideas are designed for group rewards for total sales while others are designed for rewarding individual achievement. Also, the contests are designed for various goals that should be kept in mind throughout the year anyway so another function of these contests is to remind salespeople what is important.

The prize does not need to be giant; just something interesting and worthwhile. You might even offer a list of rewards (or a grab bag) they can choose from. I also listed some sales contest reward ideas at the bottom.

In case you were wondering, "why twelve?" it's because (A) I resent even-numbered lists where the last two were obviously forced and (B) for my case I am using monthly contests and years happen to be broken down into 12 fairly equal parts.

12 Sales Contests Ideas - Reward Given to...

#1: All if total sales are above $X at a minimum of X% margin.
#2: Salesperson with greatest month to month sales increase.
#3: Salesperson with highest sales volume from NEW customers.
#4: Salesperson who revives the most PAST customers. I love this one.
#5: All if each salesperson on the team meets or exceeds sales goals.
#6: Salesperson with highest single sale or shipment (choose and be clear).
#7: Salesperson who sells the highest PRE-PAID order.
#8: Salesperson with largest sale in a region.
#9: Salesperson with the highest total Gross Margin (regardless of dollar value).
#10: Salesperson with highest margin on NEW customer.
#11: Salesperson with the highest average margin on an EXISTING customers.
#12: Salesperson with the highest sales in a certain product line/category.

These sales contest ideas might not all apply to your business for a variety of reasons from the type of products or services you sell to how your sales force is structured but hopefully they will spur some ideas for you. I love these ideas for what makes a good sales contest from Simplenomics.

Sales Contest Rewards Ideas

Sales Reward #1: Day(s) off.
Sales Reward #2: Gift certificate for two at a NICE restaurant.
Sales Reward #3: 1 month of 1 free lunch per week.
Sales Reward #4: 1/2 day Fridays for a month.
Sales Reward #5: Movie/park/event tickets
Sales Reward #6: Cash!
Sales Reward #7: Choice of additional training (boondoggle) of their choice.

Give your salespeople some choice in the matter. Let them choose the reward and let them give ideas for the prizes. Listen to them and try to pick up on those little things they say they want and choose gift certificates from places that sell those things. Some say cash is the most effective reward - here is an interesting article from Online Conversion & Beyond about Sales Incentives and ROI.

Have fun selling. Be creative with your sales contest ideas but you don't need to re-invent the wheel.

Image : http://www.flickr.com

These Easter chick crafts are all designed for little ones. They are easy to do and loads of fun. Let them try their hand at a cute fingerprint Easter chick, turn a paper plate into a chick and make a yellow footprint chick.

Easter Chick Crafts 1 - Cute Fingerprint Easter Chick

Supplies:
Paint - Yellow
Warm soapy water
Orange and Blue Fibre-tip pens or marker
Piece of A4 blank paper
Newspaper

Directions:
To help the process run smoothly, mix the yellow paint before hand.

Each preschoolers has a turn to place their thumb or finger in the premixed yellow paint. With a help of a teacher, place the child's finger print gently onto the piece of white paper.

Have a basin full of warm soapy water, for the kids to wash their hands in, while they wait for the paint to dry.

Once dried, let them draw the chicks beak and eyes using an orange and blue colored marker. Now let the children draw orange x or crosses as the chicks feet at the bottom of the fingerprint. Now let them draw a sun, flowers on their paper and remember to add their names.

Easter Chick Crafts 2 - Easter Chick Paper Plate Craft

Materials:
Plain white paper plate
Orange paper
Two googly eyes
Paint- yellow
Feathers - yellow
Glue

Directions:
Paint both sides of the paper plate in yellow paint. Allow time to dry. Once completely dry, you need to fold the paper plate in half. Place the paper plate on its curved side.

Using the googly eyes, paste one on each side of the folded plate. Now draw and cut out a triangle on the orange paper. Glue the triangle across the fold of the paper plate, just above the eyes. This is the chicks beak. Place a blob of glue and stick the feathers on either side of the body. Preferably in the middle of the paper plate.

Easter Chick Crafts 3 - Yellow Foot Chick

Materials:
Paint- yellow
White paper A4
Fibre-tip pens / orange markers
warm soapy water
Newspaper

Directions:
Place the ready mixed yellow paint inside a wise dish, with sides. This dish needs to be big enough for a child's foot. Lay down newspaper under the yellow paint dish as well as the white A4 paper.

The children need to be barefoot. Each child is to place one of their feet into the yellow paint and step directly onto the white paper. Tip: Have the paint, paper and tub of warm soapy water in a line, one after the other. This helps minimize the mess.

Once the child has left a yellow footprint on the paper, have them step into the soapy water and wash the paint off their foot. Dry. Once the paint is dry, turn the paper around until the heel faces to the top, this will be the chicks head.

Using fibre-tip pens / markers add eyes and a beak to the chick. The kids can embellish their work by adding grass, a sun, clouds etc. Do not forget their name.

Make Halloween More Fun - Quality Educational Activities For Kids

Image : http://www.flickr.com

You might make Halloween more fun by sticking a pumpkin sticker on a worksheet or using a ghost shaped bookmark to keep track of independent reading and plopping some decorations around the classroom. However, to create a truly fun well-rounded experience for your students, you need to find quality educational activities for kids to use during the week leading up to this holiday. Incorporating some effective word puzzles, challenging math worksheets, innovative writing prompts and problem solving activities with a Halloween theme will help create educational Halloween activities student enjoy.

You do not have to stop your normal math routine just because of Halloween week. Using worksheets to review and reinforce skills or for homework is a part of a normal routine. Substituting worksheets with a Halloween theme is then a simple adjustment that will not interfere with education. Often Halloween itself it is hard to keep students focused, so pulling out a printable Halloween game or activity that fits in with your current curriculum needs might help them get through the day, without losing too many teachable moments.

Word Puzzles are always a fun activity to use around any holiday and Halloween is rich with good word choices. Whether using word searches, anagrams, categorizing, or thesaurus work, students are enhancing their vocabulary, practicing proper usage, and giving more exposures to the correct spelling! These sorts of activities are perfect for homework leading up to Halloween as families are often busy with higher than normal out of school events. These assignments are fun, simple but allow you to assign quality educational activities at the same time.

Although Halloween is rich with creative writing topics, it is always a challenge to come up with writing assignments that use these ghastly creatures but avoid violence. Taking the time to really look for a good resource for interesting writing prompts that also are printable downloads so you can find it easier next year, is well worth your time. This sort of assignment creates the perfect teachable moment for an age appropriate discussion with the students about the impact of violence and how you can be scary without being violent. Meanwhile you are making Halloween more fun for your students with creative writing opportunities.

Using challenging Halloween themed problem solving games and activities like brain teasers, riddles, or logic puzzles is perfect for filling in that little extra time waiting for the bell to ring, as a warm-up challenge when they arrive in the morning or for a homework assignment. Playing some strategy games as a full class or in small groups with some printable games you found online, fools them into thinking they are getting away with doing no work, but are really practicing using an important skill. Having games and activities that encompass different skill levels allows for some creative groupings!

Many teachers do not look forward to Halloween week because of how hard it is to keep the students focused and the challenge of keeping the blood and gore writing under control. With quality educational activities for kids to use at Halloween, teachers can make Halloween more fun for everyone.

Games in the Math Classroom - Honest Educational Benefits Revealed

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Common criticisms of using games in math classroom sound like, "I want my child to learn academics," "If I wanted them to play games, I would keep them at home," "I am not paying tax dollars (or tuition) to have my child play games all day," and the ever popular, "I learned math just fine without all this stuff, there is nothing wrong with old fashioned drill, drill drill." The reality is you will end up with more drill time when playing a game, all accomplished in a positive success driven atmosphere that will keep the students engaged and work on integrating skills with higher level thinking skills.

Simple drill works well for memorizing facts for many students. For some their learning styles are such that drill alone is not enough. With time and enough drill, practice and exposure these fact are learned. Any good math teacher will use a variety of strategies to help with memorizing facts. Manipulating blocks, writing facts down, singing facts to music are alternative ways to use. Playing games in the math classroom is an amazing way to get multiple repetitions of facts; a child will happily read the same fact ten times when playing a game, yet groan when a flash drill card appears even a second time.

Basic drills do not teach application of math facts. There is a good chance those same people who learned facts perfectly fine the old fashioned way, also despised the dreaded "story problems." Fortunately today most math programs integrate the "story problem" immediately into the fact drills taking the words story problem out of the picture. Games are a perfect way to provide even more practice applying the basic skills in real life situations. A board game might include a space to land on where an additional math question needs solved; a card game could be designed around gathering enough data to solve a particular problem.

Math is such an important life skill, it is important not to make that class a dreaded, stressful, or boring experience. Games in the math classroom designed to reinforce skills and drill in a challenging yet interesting and fun environment will help keep the student engaged in a positive way and motivated to keep on learning. Printable math games designed for one or two people can help build self motivation and even be sent home to download and play in a fun atmosphere while reinforcing crucial skills.

Incorporating games into a rich overall healthy integrated curriculum is a valid way to provide educational benefit to all students and is only a waste of time when the skills are not relevant, the game is silly, or if over done. With technology available today, teachers are building a library of digital, downloadable activities that make providing challenging but fun math games for the math classroom easier to do. Everyone, the student, the teacher and the parent will experience the educational benefit of having a variety of fun math games.

A Claimed Prophecy May Explain Addictions and the Remedy

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Each day the webpage of a new group posts what many believe are messages from God Himself. The organization Catholic and Orthodox Professionals International (COPI) features at least one each day.

What follows is the post for June 11, 2007, to remain for at least one week:

"Many of your readers are in some type of twelve-step recovery program. My favor rests on these, because when they are carried out correctly, they lead wounded people to Me.

The first program of this kind that I blessed is Alcoholics Anonymous. Although Narcotics Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, and others use the same principles, I will base my teaching today mainly on A.A., for this is the program in which you yourself participate daily.

Almost all of these people, including you, have been abused as children or teens--either sexually, physically, or emotionally. Most of the women have been sexually abused, and many are incest victims, while the men have mostly suffered physical or emotional maltreatment. Many have been raised with a twisted concept of My nature.

The wounds to their souls have very greatly hindered them from coming to Me, in many cases. Mostly they fear Me, some to the point of denying that I exist. They falsely believe, but yet really do think, that they are agnostics or atheists. In actuality, they are either angry at Me or they fear Me. Many blame Me for what has happened in their lives. Therefore, they will not approach.

I do not hold these reactions against them. There is no normal way to react to the craziness that has victimized them. They are, indeed, victims, and their alcoholism is, in fact, a disease--an ailment mainly of the soul but also of the body.

Their addictions and all the horrors they have caused are rooted in several realities. Prior to the recovery process, the alcoholic has an internal emptiness that causes a craving for peace and a calming of the fears by which he is constantly plagued. He or she finds very great comfort and elation through alcohol, for it is a release. It is freedom from the anguish.

He feels a surge of power, and he senses that he is equal with other people, when before he has always felt deeply that he was out-of-place in his social setting. He feels accepted, even special, and imagines that anything is possible with his loyal friend, alcohol.

Naturally, he becomes conditioned to these effects of alcohol and so continues to consume as much as he can, as often as he can. But he is not yet addicted. The addiction becomes firmly established by further conditioning.

In psychology, not everything is true, but the phenomenon of operant conditioning has been established scientifically. For example, if a laboratory animal is rewarded every time he repeats a behavior, it will continue to perform the same act in order to get the reward. When the reward is given only at certain fixed intervals, such as every second performance or every fourth, the conditioning becomes more firmly rooted. When the reward is presented randomly, on no fixed schedule, the animal is hooked. The animal is addicted to the behavior, and so he repeats it furiously, because the payoff may or may not come.

The alcoholic becomes addicted when he discovers that the alcohol does not work for him all of the time, as it did in the beginning. There is no predicting whether he will attain a successful intoxication or not. In a way similar to the conditioned animal, the alcoholic repeats the consumption in greater amounts and more frequently. His need for the alcohol becomes insane, even though it does not bring benefits anymore, but only suffering. Nevertheless, his behavior accelerates, becomes frenzied, and produces dire results. At this point, the alcoholic is without hope.

The enormous consumption brought on by the conditioning, or addiction, produces permanent changes in the body. The liver, even though it may heal, depending on the extent of damage, will never again be able to process alcohol. The alcohol cannot be broken down to sugar and water, but instead there remains a residue that forces and magnifies the craving immediately after the taking of only one drink. In fact, even an alcoholic with long-term sobriety will feel worse after a single drink, not better.

Not only are the physical damages permanent, but so is the original conditioning. It is this conditioning that causes a sober alcoholic to continue the craving. He will think of, and sometimes desire, a drink, at least from time to time, for the remainder of his life.

But what about the effects on his soul? His soul has been rampaged more than the brain and body. It has become numb. The eternal part of the man or woman has become resistant to any idea of asking for My help. Yet, only a miracle on My part can save his life. What is he to do?

Herein lies the truth, and the beauty, of A.A. The program does not force the still suffering alcoholic to accept Me as the solution. The founders and early members did just that: They insisted that the sick man get on his knees even before his first meeting. But soon they found that their approach did not work.

I revealed to them the concept of a 'Higher Power'; that is, an unnamed power greater than the flimsy abilities of the alcoholic. Thus there came a way for the agnostic (very few have been atheists) to entertain the thought that there might be hope. While his best efforts have always produced less than no results, there may indeed be a solution. Maybe some entity, with power far beyond his own, could deliver him from this deadly obsession.

So the alcoholic discovers two realities: that they may be hope and that there is only one hope: the Higher Power. At this idea, the alcoholic begins to pay attention.

No more fruitless, exhausting willpower needed, he realizes. Then, when he progresses through the first two steps, he automatically, by My design, begins to conceive of God, of Me, rather than a power with no name. He takes his early steps towards coming to Me. I take him by the hand, and I gently pull him to freedom.

The remaining steps keep him close to me and teach him how to live a fulfilling life--one of giving to those who still suffer.

Not only A.A., but all of the twelve-step programs, have one commonality: That only a miracle can bring freedom to the enslaved. There is only one source for miracles. It is I, your God, who loves you and wills that you be free. I came that you might have life, and have it more abundantly."

10 Free or Inexpensive Ways to Market Your Business

Image : http://www.flickr.com

When I first started marketing, well, you know the expression-I didn't have a pot nor a window. Without the finances to market my business, I had to become an expert it what is known as Shoestring Marketing. There are many free and inexpensive marketing methods that in the long run are as good as or better than paid advertising. In fact, in terms of marketing longevity, these methods have given me long term results in building my online businesses. The following 10 items are the ones that I have found to be the most effective and have long term effects.

1. Build a list. We have always been told that the money is in the list and that is as true today as it was 10 years ago. Of course, with all of the competition on the net, it is harder to build a list today but, if you follow the rest of my 10 ways to market, it will happen and without a list you really don't have a sustainable business. With a responsive list, you build trust and respect with your list members and then and only then will they buy from you. Of the 10 ways to market, this is the only one that requires that you spend some money. You will need a good autoresponder. Please don't go for the free or cheap ones, all you are doing is shooting yourself in the foot. A good autoresponder will make sure that your message is delivered.

2. Article Marketing. This is a great way to build your reputation as an expert in your chosen niche. The internet has a voracious appetite for fresh information and if your articles are well written and fact based, you will be remembered as an expert in you field. Make sure that you never advertise in your articles. You should rely upon your signature to do your marketing. No one wants to publish an article that is nothing more than a promotion for someone else's product. One of the neat things about article marketing is that some articles stand the test of time and may be published not only when fresh but also weeks, months and sometimes years after you wrote the article.

3. Blogging. Not only do you need your own blog but, you should also be making comments on other people's blogs. Once again a well written blog entry or comment will build your reputation as an expert and you will build trust with potential customers. With your own blog, you can blatantly advertise if you want to. I personally prefer to give my blog readers solid content without the blatant promo.

The reason for this being is that I am trying to build trust and display my expertise. If you are commenting on someone else's blog, never advertise. Just rely upon your signature to do the advertising for you. If you try to advertise on someone's blog, you will likely find that your comment has found it's way to the circular file and will never be seen or heard from again.

4. Forum Marketing. No matter how small your niche is, you will find forums that are dedicated to your area of expertise. Before you start making forum comments or new threads, make sure that you read and understand the forum rules. Failure to follow the rules could get you banned from the forum or worse yet, hurt your reputation. Forum members can sometimes be very blunt when they see a comment that doesn't conform to the forums protocols. Also, take some time to read the forum threads and comments so that when you start threads or comments, they are appropriate for the forum.

5. You Tube. I have only just begun to utilize You Tube as one of my marketing strategies. But, I have found that with a little preplanning

you can get very high ratings and a very loyal following of viewers. It is not unusual to get multiple if not scores of comments on a good

You Tube presentation. This is also an area that, so far, has much less competition than most of the other marketing methods. I think that this is from that natural tendency for many people to be camera shy. The person that introduced me to You Tube, took the top five Google video results in his niche within one week of producing his first video. Don't be shy. Get out that video camera and dive into this relatively untapped market.

6. Social Networking. You have heard the names, My Lot, My Space, Facebook, Squidoo and many more. The world of social networking takes internet marketing to a whole new plateau. This is part of the Web 2.0 internet revolution that is changing the face of the internet at an incredibly fast and accelerating pace. It has literally become a brave new world. Don't jump in too fast. Learn the rules of the road. If you do it right, you will be developing friends and potential customers. I suggest that you enter social networking with some degree of caution. You can develop friends but also like the non-cyber world, not everyone if going to like you and without some degree of care, you might also develop enemies.

7 Virtual Worlds. I think that most people have at least looked at Second Life or one of the other virtual worlds that have been created.

In these virtual worlds, you create an avatar that is your online ego. You can be anything you want-male, female, or even an infinite variety of critters. I have met rabbits that speak and women that suddenly fly away when I get a little too close. Anything is possible in these virtual worlds. Anything including making money. You can buy and sell virtual real estate in the virtual world that translates to real dollars in the non-cyber world. You can created a virtual business that exists not only in the virtual world but, has a physical counterpart in the real world. Second Life might be an excellent place to help market your real world internet business. Even major corporation have created virtual stores where you can purchase something in Second Life and have it delivered to your real world doorstep in 3 days. My last computer purchase was from Dell and the whole transaction took place in Second Life. No, that is not quite right. The transaction took place in the virtual but the Dell computer that I am currently typing on was delivered in the real world. As with the social networking sites, reasonable care should be taken. Although you are dealing with an Avatar in Second Life, there is a real person with real feelings and emotions and your interactions should be given as much care as you would in the real world. Everyday, the line between the real world and the virtual world becomes more and more blurred.

8. Joint Venture Gift Events. Come Easter, July 4, Memorial Day or Christmas, etc. some of the bigger names in internet marketing will create a givaway event. They are usually free to join and you get to offer a free Ebook, membership or some other free offer in exchange for people signing up for your list. Some of these have been very effective for me. When getting involved in these make sure that the backers are among the top marketers and not some fly-by-night operation. Many times these events will also have an upgrade available so that your offer gets toward the top of the list. This may be a worthwhile investment as some of these events have usually several hundred offers available. You really have nothing to lose and if your free offer is unique, you may have a dramatic increase in your list. There are other ways to get into joint ventures but that will be an article all by itself. JVs are very much a win-win situation.

9. Press Releases. If you are offering something new and unique to the marketplace, you should consider putting out both an online and off line press release. If the right reporter picks it up, it might get published as is or you may get a call from one of the different news mediums wanting to interview you. One of the top marketers on the net today got his start from Fox News doing an interview about his rags to riches story. It is free to do and the worst case scenario is that no one pays any attention to your news release. Remember the old cliche: nothing ventured-nothing gained.

10. Your own Affiliate Program. If you have gone to the work of creating a product, then it is just natural that you offer an affiliate program to market your product. Affiliate marketers are always looking for something new and hot to promote. If you set up the program properly, you could have hundreds or even thousands of affiliates promoting your product. Create the affiliate program, create promotional materials for your product and pay your affiliates promptly. When the affiliate's prospect visits your sales page, you also have the chance to capture that person's name and email for your own optin list. Just make sure that if the new customer buys one of your future offers, you pay the affiliate on the new offer also.

Now the question is why are you sitting around doing nothing. I have just given you 10 great ways to build your business. Stop reading and get to work.

19 Easy Beauty Salon Promotions

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Fortunately, it's a simple challenge to solve.

It can be as simple as an A4 piece of paper arranged in 12 columns with a few notes or post-its...

What am I talking about?

You should NEVER, ever be in need of a good reason for a promotion.

One of the key ingredients to a successful beauty salon advertising campaign is this:

"Entering the Conversation In Your Prospects/Clients Mind."

What do I mean?

Well, everyday, we all have things which are at the top of our consciousness.

That might be what's happening in the news (an interest rate cut, Jade Goody, Ashley Cole, Red Nose Day), something like the School Holidays, Christmas, Easter or whatever.

IF you enter into the conversation in people's minds they will be infinitely more receptive to your messages.

The easiest way to get things lined up and ready is to create yourself a Beauty Salon Marketing Calender!

Yep, a calender which you draw up at the start of each year which shows important dates and what promotions you will run for those dates.

There are some 'tricks' to making it actually work.

But in essence just taking the time to write what salon promotions you will run and when will magically make more happen than you've ever seen before...

So...

Here are 19 Great Reasons for a Salon/Spa Promotion

* New Years Day...
* Shrove Tuesday
* Valentines Day
* St Patrick's Day
* Mother Day
* British Summer Time
* Easter
* April Fools Day
* St Georges Day
* May Day
* Fathers Day
* Longest Day of the Year
* End of Summer Time
* Halloween
* Bonfire Night
* Remembrance Day
* Christmas Day
* Boxing Day
* New Years Eve

And there are TONS MORE.

Each and every one of those has an EASY link to your salon or spa.

You should NEVER be at a loss for a reason for a beauty salon promotion.

And if you even did HALF of those...You'd be WAY ahead of your competition.

Get a calender, get planning.

Take ACTION! TODAY! NOW!

Henry Baker.

Recycling Tips - 6 Great Uses For Those Egg Cartons

Image : http://www.flickr.com

I love eggs for breakfast, as do many people. However eggs also produce waste that eventually could end up in a landfill. For starters make sure you compost those egg shells. Dig a hole and bury them (with other food scraps). Worms will love you for it by producing nutrient rich castings.

That's the easy part, but what about that darn egg carton. If your egg cartons are made of cardboard type of material then can simply put them in your recycle container for cardboard. If they are made from Styrofoam then you need to other solutions. I have listed a few below.

Seed starter

You can also use the cardboard style for this as well. Put some potting soil in each cup, then place one to two seeds in the potting soil, cover the seeds with some of the potting soil. After the seed have sprouted, push up on the bottom of the cup to remove it and transplant it either outside or to another, bigger pot. If you were using the cardboard variety you can cut out the cup from the carton and transplant the plant and cup to your new area.

Easter egg storage

Do you have those plastic Easter eggs for decoration or Easter egg hunts? Instead of storing them in a plastic bag, use your egg cartons instead.

Paint Palette for kids

Do your kids like to paint? Then put a little paint (environmentally safe paint) in each cup so you can regulate how much of each color each child gets. This way they do not go through too much of one color by constantly squeezing the tube or pouring from the bottle.

Use a Jelly Mold

Here's a neat little trick someone told me recently. For their children's 1st grade class parties she fills each cup with jello and puts it aside until it is finished congealing. Then the kids can pop them out and have small jello snacks.

Ice Cube Tray

Don't try this with cardboard variety as they will leak, but with the Styrofoam variety fill the cups up with water and put in your freezer. When frozen you have some really neat ice cubes for your next outdoor barbecue.

Packing Material

Instead of using Styrofoam packing peanuts or bubble wrap, use your Styrofoam to secure objects during shipping so they do not break. If you are shipping large packages then you will need a bunch of them, but that is ok, you have been saving them before you throw them out since there is not hurry to have them end up in your local landfill just yet.

These are just a few that I have gone into detail with as far as what you can do to use and reuse those egg cartons before you end up throwing them away. I always recommend however if at all possible buy your eggs that come in the cardboard variety egg cartons. These cartons are more readily biodegradable and have many more valuable uses then their Styrofoam counterparts, such as turning them into fire starters.

Fundraising Made Easy

It has been difficult during this rough economy to raise money through traditional fundraising means. If you're having a tough time generating the funds needed to sustain your church, school or organization, here are a few easy ideas that can rejuvenate your community with a small amount of planning.

An Easter Egg Hunt / Bake Sale

Children love to participate in Easter egg hunts. This is a great opportunity to bring neighborhood families to your organization. You can stuff the plastic eggs with little prizes for the children or with coupons that are redeemable at another event, like a bake sale. Of course, the bake sale is where you can raise even more money for your organization. Once the families are in attendance for the egg hunt, they'll need a baked snack and a drink, so a well-organized bake sale is an easy and cost efficient way to raise extra cash.

A Fashion Show

Partner with local clothiers and boutiques and ask them to provide some clothing samples that will be worn in a fashion show. You can even do a community "model search" and have those in the community participate in your show. Agree to say the name of each clothing provider and where they are located when you announce what the models are wearing. Ask for donations by those who attend your fashion show to ensure you raise money.

Sponsor a Carnival or Fair

Community festivals are a great way to bring a neighborhood together. You can plan an event that can be held in a small park, your parking lot or any other area that can accommodate a large crowd. Make sure you have events and games that cost little and are fun for the whole family like face painting, sack races, water balloon toss, etc. You can charge a low fee from $2 to $5 for admittance. With the entire community in attendance, you're sure to have fun and raise a lot of money.

Host a Food Tasting

Restaurants are always looking for ways of increasing their number of patrons. Partner with area restaurants to host a food tasting. Ask them to provide free samples of their signature dishes and specialties. That way, they can advertise their food while raising money for your cause or organization. Food events are perfect for highlighting and celebrating the community's culinary identity. For example, if your region is known for amazing pizza, hold a pizza tasting. You can ask attendees to participate by tasting each restaurant's pizza and voting on which they prefer. Asking for donations or charging a low fee for admission will cover your costs and help you meet your fundraising goals.

Try one of these ideas for your next fundraising event. Each is easy to put together and require little planning and a low up-front cost. Good luck!
